Christians are blessed with the privilege of coming before the throne of God. Of course, our worship of God will always be found lacking.
Even when we desire to worship God properly, certain things can become barriers to our worship. Simple things like hitting the wrong note while singing, a malfunction of the sound system, a negative word from the person sitting next to you, the color of the speaker’s tie, a baby crying, hunger, or uncomfortable seats can distract us in our worship of God.
Sometimes we let our personal preferences interfere with our worship. Some leave their local church, and some leave the church totally, all because some things were or were not to the level of their expectations.
But in spite of our weaknesses and failures, the blood of Jesus covers our sins and enables us to come before the Father in worship. What a blessing! So day after day, week after week, and year after year, we continue to worship God; and by his grace, he accepts our worship.
Jesus promised that when he returns, he will change our corruptible bodies to incorruptible ones—in the twinkling of an eye. He will give us glorified bodies that will sin no more, and then he will place us in the new heavens and new earth where we will live with him for eternity.
In that new creation, we will live in worship of God. We will not worry about our worship. Nothing will distract us. With sin totally removed, our lives will be lived in the pure worship of our God. I can’t wait to be in that new creation!
