I live in an African country that suffers from a lack of water during seasons of drought. During one such season our well stopped pumping. 

I knew God was working in a mighty way within the country, but without water, how would we carry on the training of church planters? I knew God was a God of provision, but I also came from a land where you called for a plumber when there was a water problem. On the foreign field the list of people to call when problems arise is pretty slim—except for the one we should always call on in times of plenty or want.

Our team chose a day to surround the well and call on God. Missionaries, Tanzanians, church planting students, and children gathered with Scriptures, songs, and prayers to seek the physical and spiritual restoration of the land. During that time I understood what it means to call on the Lord, believing that true healing is found only through him.

God provided a lamb for Abraham at just the right moment. Even when it was hard to see through the circumstances, Abraham believed God would keep his promise (Genesis 22).

We waited for the water, knowing that God called us to this place. Within the week it began to rain. I watched the water from the sky restore the land. I also sensed that my heart had found restoration, knowing that God provides what is needed for the good of his children.
