1. Have you ever participated in a Seder meal (the meal that commemorates the exodus from Egypt)? If so, what did you learn from it? 

Read Exodus 12:1-14. 

2. What was the purpose of this elaborate ceremony for the Israelites? 

3. The Passover is seen as a “type” or sign (v. 13)—a foreshadowing of Jesus’ death on the cross. Look at the following words and the references that go with them and discuss how they point to Jesus and his sacrificial death: 

• Lamb (Genesis 22:7; John 1:29; cf. Acts 8:32-36; 1 Corinthians 5:7; 1 Peter 1:18, 19; Revelation 5:6; 13:8)

• Without defect (1 Peter 1:19)

• Blood (Hebrews 9:22; 1 John 1:7)

• Bread (John 6:35, 48, 51; Matthew 26:26)

• The Lord’s Passover (Hebrews 9:15)

• Firstborn (Luke 2:7; Romans 8:29)

4. What do you learn from this passage about God, his priorities, and his plan?

5. In what ways do we as Christ followers still commemorate and celebrate the Passover as a lasting ordinance (Exodus 12:14; Luke 22:14-20)? 

6. What will you do this week to commemorate and celebrate the Lamb of God who took away your sins?
