1. What event has marked the biggest change of direction in your life? 

Read Romans 6:1-4, 12-14, 17-23.

2. In your own words, how would you answer Paul’s question: Can Christians keep sinning since that would amplify God’s forgiveness and grace?

3. Examine all the differences between what we used to be before we decided to follow Christ and what we are now that we belong to him.

• What were we slaves to before? What are we slaves to now? What kinds of behaviors does each lead to?

• Whom did we live for before? Whom do we live for now? What are the end results of each?

4. What similarities and differences are there to being a slave to something and being addicted to it?

5. How does your identity as a Christ follower affect your everyday choices?

6. Divide by gender into subgroups of 2 or 3 and then respond to this question: Look again at verses 12-14. With what parts of your body do you most struggle to offer to God rather than to sin? Your mouth/words? Your brain/thoughts? Your heart/emotions? Your hands/actions? Your sexual organs/desires? Your stomach/appetites?

7. Pray for each other to be set free from the bondage of sin.
