1. Bring a basket of mixed fruit to group (apples, oranges, bananas, and so on). If no fruit is available, create a list of fruits. Pass the basket (or list of fruits) around and have everyone pick one fruit and describe how that fruit describes his or her life right now. (Here are two examples: “This banana is shaped like the smile I’ve had on my face lately” or “This grape has a tough skin but a soft inside and that’s how I’ve had to be with my kids lately.”)
Read Galatians 5:22-6:10.
2. When it comes to assessing spiritual fruit, how should we evaluate ourselves?
3. How efficient are you at testing your own actions? What prevents you from being deceived into thinking you are someone you are not?
4. Which characteristic of the Spirit’s fruit in verses 22 and 23 do you need help with right now?
5. Most people are busy and tired, but even so, we should not grow weary of doing good for others. Think about something good you’ve wanted to do for someone else, but haven’t yet accomplished. Share it with the group and then pray for the opportunity to do that good thing for someone this coming week. Share the results of your efforts with the group next week.
