1. Think back to the first time someone close to you died. What was it like for you? Did you occasionally visit the gravesite?
Read John 20:1-10, 19, 20.
2. When John, Peter, and Mary visited Jesus’ empty tomb, they were not immediately able to discern what had happened to Jesus’ body. But in time, their experience at the tomb and in the upper room worked together to solidify their faith in Jesus and his resurrection. Share some examples of when your knowledge of Jesus’ words and your life experiences worked together to grow your faith. (Example: “I know the Bible says Jesus provides for our needs, but I didn’t fully grasp it until I had a financial crisis.”)
3. For you personally, which is more important for growing your faith: knowledge of the truth or confirming life experiences?
4. What do you most look forward to as you think about the final resurrection?
5. Pray for the Lord to increase your faith and praise him for his resurrection power.
