1. If your group has been together for a while, take turns guessing what each member of the group would prefer from the following list. After group members have made their guesses, ask members to reveal their true preferences:
• going out to eat, or eating at home
• Spring season, or Fall season
• basketball, or football
• reading a book, or walking in the woods
• being with large groups of people, or being with one or two people
Read Colossians 4:2-17.
2. Looking specifically at verses 2-6, list on a white board or large sheet of paper things your group should be doing as followers of Christ.
3. Review the list and talk honestly about how your group is doing in each area listed. Which areas are weaknesses for your group? Which areas are strengths?
4. This section of Scripture contains many personal references to intentional spiritual relationships. Ask members this question: “Do you view your relationships as channels for encouraging others in their ministries? If not, why?”
5. Introduce your prayer time by asking each member of the group to respond to the following question: “How are you doing, really?” After each person answers the question, ask a volunteer to pray briefly for that person before moving on to the next person.
