Minister Hopes to Transform Strip Club into Church

A New York City minister is trying to raise $300,000 in order to transform a New York City neighborhood’s last strip club into a church.

Reggie Stutzman of Real Life Church in the Bronx believes that God is bringing revival to the city. The Bronx neighborhood where the church is located, known as Hunts Point, is one of New York City’s oldest neighborhoods but also one of its most dangerous.

Stutzman said that having businesses like the strip club created an atmosphere of violence, prostitution, and crime in the area. Since the business has been closed, the fighting, shootings, and stabbings have decreased.

Though Stutzman’s congregation is only running 50-70 people, he believes that through prayer and faithfulness they’re going to be able to turn the neighborhood around.

Man Admitted into Psych Ward Because of Generosity

A man who handed out money to strangers on the streets in Canada and told them to “thank God” for the gift, has been taken into the custody of a psychiatric hospital.

Friends and family of Richard Wright said he is being held at the facility against his will. They also said that he’s not crazy, that he was simply trying to brighten people’s days in his own unique way.

While Wright was handing out money to strangers, the Prince Edward Island Royal Canadian Mounted Police were called and took Wright into custody for a psychological evaluation, where it was determined that he needed further assessment by a medical health professional.

A spokesman for the local police said that Wright had not broken any laws. Despite that, as of press time, he continues to be held against his will.

Infant Remains Heating British Hospitals

A new report revealed that British hospitals are using the bodies of aborted and miscarried babies to heat their buildings.

The exposé by a British news station uncovered that the bodies of thousands of preborn babies were included as clinical waste in 10 different National Heath Service trusts and subsequently incinerated. Two other facilities admitted that burning human remains was part of their “waste-to-energy” plants.

The Health Minister, Dr. Dan Poulter, said the practice was totally unacceptable, and the U.K. Department of Health banned the practice after the report was revealed and public outrage ensued. The report also claimed that 27 NHS facilities incinerated at least 15,500 fetal remains over the past two years and that parents were not consulted about the hospital’s disposal means for the babies.

Judge Gives Custody of Teen to State 

A judge has ruled that a young girl must remain a ward of the state in Massachusetts until June with a possibility that the girl, age 15, could remain that way until she turns 18.

The girl, Justina Pelletier, received treatment for mitochondrial disease at Tufts Medical Center in Boston for many years. In February of last year, she became even more ill, so her family took her to the Children’s Hospital. Once she was admitted, a young neurologist changed her diagnosis to somatoform disorder, a mental illness.

Her parents protested the diagnosis, and when they did, the doctor contacted the state Department of Children and Families and alleged abuse. When the case went before a judge, the parents were charged with medical child abuse. However, the ruling was based not on neglect, but the fact that the parents had been too aggressive in determining the best treatment for their daughter.

The family continues to fight the ruling.
