1. Pass around a bowl of M & M’s or other finger candy. Ask group members to take an amount of their own choosing. Then instruct group members that for every piece of candy they took, they need to share with the group something the group may not know about them.

Read Proverbs 29:16-27.

2. Take a poll of the group and see which of the topics mentioned in these verses is most relevant to their life right now:

• parenting

• obedience in the face of opposition

• controlling your tongue

• employee/employer relationships

• controlling your temper

• fearing the Lord

• honesty in all dealings

3. Refer to the two or three most often mentioned topics from step 2 above and for the remainder of your group time, ask the following questions about these topics:

• What do these verses say about this topic?

• What are the benefits of “keeping the law” regarding this topic?

• How can you change to become more obedient to the value described in these verses?

4. Close with a time of prayer for the strength to obey the law and fear the Lord.
